Suzanne David, in her book emotional agility, mentions an athlete who refers to himself in third party when talking about a difficult decision.
She says that deafening in third-party maybe a method to gain some perspective and distance when dealing with difficult emotions like anxiety or sadness.
I used to start a sentence in ‘I’ and then refer to myself as ‘you’ or ‘we’ in my journals from the past. I used to wonder about it. Why I literally did that. Then I slowly I started having a better grip on life, this tendency faded away, also because I was consciously aware of it.
That way, the usage of third party, the quantity and reduction of it, we have acted as a metre to my inner turmoils. Emotional agility may have given me an explanation.
The beautiful mind!
