Presence, YouTube and Rejection

In her book Presence, in the 8th chapter, as Amy Cuddy mentions pill bug kind of curling reactions and similar social situations where one has to be conspicuous, like asking question in Harvard Business School class…

… one thinks about how people feel about publishing online, specifically on YouTube.

one of the first things Amy mentions is how getting over fear and difficulties is not just an academic or clinical concern, but something almost everyone deals with daily.

maybe having to talk with the boss for a raise, a difficult topic of discussion, fears within family, about life, pain vs power when it comes to can I handle it (feel the fear and …, the book).

Brendon Burchard in one of his videos talks about the fear of rejection being the reason why we don’t put ourselves out there completely as we are. When I think of it, we have this average audience image, which threatens and comes up with questions and comments that can make us uncomfortable.

only, there is no average audience. plus. how is it that that audience seems to be able to ask so many questions from different kinds of perspectives and all of them are uncomfortable?

with time and being conscious, I guess one remembers the best fan of work to be the audience and everything negative as dogs barking in a wedding ceremony, the dogs well beyond the walls, never to come in unless we open the gate by responding or giving them any credit.

with time, it so happens that negative comments are not presented to the conscious attention. they all get just bagged in one cloudy group of… well… not relevant, don’t know the context, jobless, jealous, generic set not useful for our purposes.

Like Brendon says, get more and more of the my people. do all that is needed for that. instead of anything against the negative.

that is one very useful piece of advice, because that directly helps us produce what matters. send a positive happiness making reply to a real fan and user. etc.

life is good. YouTube is good. negative and perspective and right places is good. focus on the real people is good. we grow as we produce and as we are conscious.
