Three lives one could think of within a lifetime; an exercise from the book Designing your life (Stanford).
Before, when I tried explaining the different work I do, I felt the need to connect them to a meta (teacher, solver and content maker), how they are all connected by the container (internet for example) etc.
Nowadays, i mention this book. It is from Stanford University people who have credentials in having done things with their lives and helped others do the same. So, if they say think of three different life possibilities within a life time, well, there could be something to it even if someone finally wants to follow or not.
Paraphrasing the questions:
- what you are doing now, or the usual profession you are in now, planning for 5 years.
- what if that profession doesn’t exist on earth anymore (suppose you are an investment banker and investment bankers have no jobs anymore at all, what would you do)
- if nothing else mattered – what others think etc and you have enough money – what would you be doing that you would anyway do and be happy?
Interesting, these questions, as you see. They do look like they came from having seen enough audience and not just guessed. And they are really three different options.
Designing your life is available on Kindle. It has a lot of questions to answer, thoughts to consider. Fun way to examine and design our moves on earth.
